Women's Health refers to comprehensive women’s health care as well as health issues that are unique to women, including:
- Pregnancy
- Menopause
- Conditions of the Female Organs
Be sure to get early and regular prenatal care to ensure you have a healthy pregnancy. You should also get recommended breast cancer, cervical cancer, and bone density screenings.
Our goal is to ensure the health and readiness of all women at every stage of life.

Women’s Health Services
We provide the following Women's Health services at the Naval Health Clinic Charleston:
- Well Woman Exams or Pap Smears
- Birth Control
- Short-acting reversible contraception [SARC]:
- Barrier methods such as condoms
- Hormonal methods such as the pill, patch or ring
- Long-acting reversible contraception [LARC]:
- Intrauterine devices (IUD)
- Birth control implants
- Emergency contraception [EC]:
- Birth Control Education:
- Menstrual suppression
- Barrier contraception
- Non-medical natural family planning [NFP]
- Pregnancy Testing
- Treatment of Vaginal Infections
- Care of Abnormal Pap Smears
Please note: Obstetrical care and care requiring surgical intervention are referred to the civilian medical network.

How to Make an Appointment
Call
(843) 794-6221 to schedule an appointment with your PCM for Women's Health Services.
We provide limited Women's Health services at the Naval Health Clinic. However, women's health services are a TRICARE-covered benefit. We will refer you to a TRICARE network provider. TRICARE covers many Women's Health services, including screening, preventive, and reproductive care.
The OB Liaison will provide information on the referral process, pediatric care and DEERS enrollment for your newborn, as well as basic prenatal education and community resources. Please contact the OB Liaison at

TRICARE covers well-woman exams annually for women under age 65 with no cost-share or copayment. TRICARE offers coverage for many women’s health services, including:
For women who are age 65 and older and using TRICARE For Life, you can still get women’s preventive screenings. Get more information about these and other TRICARE covered services at:

Do you have questions about your pregnancy referral?
Your referral will be authorized within 3-4 business days. To view your referral information, including assigned OB provider and authorization number, please log on to the Humana website at
www.humana-military.com. You can change the OB provider listed on your referral by calling Tricare South at 1-800-444-5445.
Do you need medical attention but have not established care with an OB Provider?
TRICARE beneficiaries can call the TRICARE Nurse Advice Line (NAL) 24/7 at 1-800-TRICARE (874-2273), Option 1 to receive health advice.
