Lab Tests & Radiology
Naval Health Clinic Charleston's Laboratory and Radiology Departments serve DOD and VA beneficiaries. Please note the differences in hours of operation for each beneficiary. An order from your provider is required in order to perform lab testing or imaging.
Laboratory
DOD patients do not need an appointment for laboratory services.
VA patients do need an appointment. Please call (843) 818-6999 in order to schedule.
You need to prepare for some tests.
- Cholesterol and lipids tests require you to fast for 10 - 12 hours beforehand.
- 24-hour urine collections need specimen containers.
Radiology
For DOD Patients, routine X-rays do not require an appointment. To make an appointment for CT or Mammogram, please call (843) 794-6250
For VA Patients, X-rays do not require and appointment. Please note, CT and Mammograms are not available for VA patients at our location.

Important Information
Our department only performs screening mammograms. We do not offer diagnostic mammograms. Mammograms are offered on a walk-in bases on Wednesday from 7 a.m.- 10:30 a.m. Please consult with your provider before attending our walk-in hours, an order is still required from your primary care provider. If a mammogram has been completed at another facility, please call for an appointment. Our department needs ample time to request outside records before performing imaging.
