Laboratory

Hours of Operation:

The Laboratory is open Monday - Friday for in-house provider lab requests from 6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., open Monday - Friday for outsider provider lab requests from 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and closed on weekends and federal holidays.  The Laboratory partners with the Veterans Administration (VA). The VA section of the Laboratory is open from 7:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., Monday – Friday; closed on weekends and federal holidays. The VA section closes at 12:00 p.m. on the 4th Friday of the Month. Please Note: Due to staffing issues, wait-times may be longer than usual.


Check In:

To Check In, please scan your ID card at the kiosk located in the Laboratory waiting area. Select your category (Tricare or VA). You will be called to the appropriate window when the phlebotomist is ready to collect your specimen. To verify your identity, the phlebotomist will ask you two patient identifiers: your name and date of birth. Please Note: Active duty members in uniform have ahead of the line privileges.

Laboratory - Frequently Asked Questions:
What You Need to Know Before Arriving at the Lab?

If you need blood collected, please hydrate prior to your arrival.  This will ease the blood collection process.  
Depending on the test or tests ordered, you may be told to fast prior to your blood collection.  Do not eat for 8–12 hours before coming to the Laboratory.  You may drink plain water only.  Do not to smoke or chew gum.  If your doctor tells you Laboratory tests are ordered, ask for special instructions or speak a laboratory team member.

Do I need to wear a mask?

Yes. Please ensure you and anyone that accompanies you is wearing a mask.  If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you. 

When will my lab results be available?

Routine test results will be available in three to five days; STAT results will be available same day and some specialized tests may take up to 10 days.
The Laboratory cannot provide patients with their results. Please contact your provider or visit Tricare Online. 

Do you accept appointments for blood draws?

No.  The Laboratory does not schedule appointments.  Routine blood draws are done on a walk-in basis.

Can I still have lab tests performed at the Naval Health Clinic if I was seen by a civilian provider?

Yes.  Bring your signed, outsider provider orders to the lab. The lab staff will enter the tests and collect the requested tests. Please make sure the information on your outside provider order is correct.  This ensures your results are properly faxed to your provider.

Lab results can only be release to your provider.  Please contact your outside provider for your results.
