Diabetes Self Management

Have you been told you have “borderline” or prediabetes?  Have you had diabetes for years and need a refresher on self-care skills?  Is your blood glucose higher than you’d like it to be?  This 90 minute class will help you understand diabetes and adjust your lifestyle to get your blood glucose under control.  Emphasis is placed on healthy meal planning for yourself and your family.  Spouses and family members are encouraged to attend.  Classes are held monthly.

Heart Health Nutrition

Do you have high cholesterol or high blood pressure?  Adopting healthy eating habits can greatly improve your heart health.  The Wellness Clinic's Registered Nurse offers a 60 minute class each month that will provide you with a heart healthy meal plan.

Healthy Nutrition for Weight Loss

Are you happy with your weight?  Do you eat balanced meals?  Fad diets usually work for a short time.  A diet high in processed and convenience foods often results in unwanted weight.  Learn healthy eating habits that will help you feel and look your best!  The Wellness Clinic's Registered Nurse holds a 60 minute class twice a month.

Ship Shape

This course is the Navy-approved intensive weight management series designed to help military personnel meet body composition standards.  Classes can start on demand, there will be six weeks of in class sessions and two weeks of online sessions. The hours are 0730-1530, Monday through Friday. Although the target audience is active duty service members, it is open to all TRICARE beneficiaries and DoD staff.  Active duty members need authorization from their commands to attend.  Wellness can assist with this process.

Tobacco Cessation

Are there any GOOD reasons to stay addicted to nicotine?  Meet with a tobacco cessation counselor for individual or group counseling sessions.  Learn to replace tobacco use with healthier activities.  Cessation medications can be obtained at no cost for in-house patients through the NHCC pharmacy and for network patients through Home Delivery.

Individual Sessions are Available.  Please call the Wellness Clinic for more information.
